What is Smart & Skilled?
NSW Government is changing vocational education and training system through the Smart and Skilled Reforms which come into effect until 01st January 2015.
These reforms will provide more consistent skills training to better meet students and industry’s needs.
The NSW Government has released the 2015 skills list which sets out the priority areas for training and the qualifications that will receive Government subsidies.
Am I eligible for Smart & Skilled?
To be eligible for a place in a government subsidised course you must be:
- An Australian citizen, permanent resident/ humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen and,
- Aged 15 years or older and
- No longer at school and
- Living or working in NSW

If you are not eligible you may be able to enrol in a fee for service arrangement. Contact SITS on 1300 GO SITS (1300 467 487) to discuss your options.
What will I pay?
In 2015 all Smart & Skilled providers will charge the same student fee as per the NSW Government fixed course fee requirement. The fees will vary according to the course and also your individual circumstances.
Fees will be charged for the full qualification and not as an annual fee, however you will be able to pay this in instalments.

You need to complete the enrolment form
We need you to sign a consent form (included in the enrolment form) declaring that you agree to information being given to the government for reporting purposes.
Step Into Training Services will use the Provider Calculator to validate eligibility and generate details of the Fee chargeable and the applicable Subsidy together with any Loadings (if applicable). We will contact you with details of the Fee chargeable and student information and confirm student acceptance of fee and program.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Fees & Charges
Step Into Training Services will ensure all fees and charges related to the provision of training services are outlined to all parties prior to enrolment. We ensure that we provide information that is clear, accurate and sufficient to enable an informed choice. Fee information for students enrolling in a Smart and Skilled subsidised training program can be found below, and students are encouraged to contact SITS for information about fees.
Note: NSW government has extended the categories for Fee-Free Scholarships. People who are experiencing or have experienced domestic or family violence and/or their dependant(s) may be eligible for free training that is funded by the NSW government under the Smart and Skilled initiative. If you believe that you are eligible under this criterion, please indicate this on your Eligibility Survey. If you are eligible under all other criteria, we will require a letter of recommendation from a domestic and family violence service, refuge or other support agency, to confirm your eligibility. You can discuss this in confidence with our NSW Administrator by contacting the College either via email or telephone.
